What to know before booking

Therapy is a collaborative and voluntary process. Our role is to offer a supportive and professional space to explore what’s bringing you in and to work toward meaningful change at your pace.

Counselling may involve discussing difficult experiences or emotions. While many people find therapy helpful, it can sometimes feel uncomfortable before it feels better. You’re always welcome to ask questions, share feedback, or pause therapy at any time.

This allows us to manage availability and respect the time set aside for you. We are not offering direct billing at this time. However, receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement when applicable. Coverage varies by provider, and clients are responsible for confirming their own benefits.

Nature of Therapy & Informed Consent

What you share in therapy is kept confidential. This means we do not share information about you or your sessions without your consent.

There are a few important legal limits to confidentiality under British Columbia law. We may need to break confidentiality if:

  • There is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else

  • There is concern about abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable person.

  • Records are required by law (for example, a court order)

  • Consultation or supervision is needed to support ethical care (with identifying details removed whenever possible)

We follow BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and take reasonable steps to protect your personal information and records.

Privacy & Protection of Personal Information

We collect only the personal information necessary to provide counselling services. This may include contact information, intake details, and clinical notes.

  • Stored securely

  • Accessed only for professional purposes

  • Retained in accordance with legal and professional requirements

Some electronic systems we use (including our website and practice management tools) may store data on servers located outside of Canada. By engaging in services with us, you acknowledge and consent to this possibility. This practice complies with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of British Columbia.

We offer counselling sessions by secure video for clients who prefer or require virtual care.

For virtual sessions:

  • You must be physically located in British Columbia

  • You are responsible for being in a private, safe space

  • Technology issues may occasionally occur, and we will make reasonable efforts to reconnect or reschedule if needed

Virtual therapy may not be suitable for all concerns, and this can be discussed together.
